What is your Business Background?
My husband and I were both in the communications industry, he in advertising, direct mail and design and I in PR & Marketing. We are both in our early 50s.
Over 30 years, each, we have both worked with many major companies and organisations across many sectors including supermarkets, food & drink manufacture & retailing, automotive & airline, consumer durables, leisure & service, agriculture, health & pharmaceuticals etc.
We have helped those clients to market their products and services and to grow their businesses.
Ultimately we are seeking to add value and see fledgling companies grow.
Any successful exit strategies employed from your businesses?
We sold our agencies in 2007 and have spent some time in travelling, writing and property development over the last couple of years. We now have houses in Barcelona, south of France and Worcestershire. We no longer own property in London, but we are in London frequently.
We have set up and developed our own businesses from scratch, we have sold businesses, and we have re-shaped and re-launched businesses in the communications / design /advertising areas.
How have you invested your profits and proceeds and what types of angel angel investments are you looking for on Venture Giant?
Most of our cash is on the stock market. We are interested in investing a small amount (up to 100K) in one or two business ventures where we feel:
- There is a good chance of ROI
- We can perhaps add something in terms of advice, either informally or on the board – become involved to some degree, without it encroaching too much on our time.
Particularly we are looking to get involved with Start ups, and entrepreneurs that are seeking seed capital.
We are not so much sector driven more geographically driven - London and the South East are our target angel investment areas.
