Personal Introduction and Profile on this Private equity investor and business angel investor:
I am an experienced angel investor, having invested over £1 million in the past 5 years, primarily into EIS-qualifying investments in the UK.
I previously worked in corporate finance and private equity at a global investment bank for over 15 years and in a global private equity investment fund for a further 2 years before leaving to pursue my private investment interests full-time.
I have very extensive professional experience of advising companies on exit, having worked on some of the UK's highest-profile flotations and having managed the sales of more than 20 private companies. I have also acted as a buy-side M&A advisor and as a professional investor, managing all stages of the private equity investment process
I have a non-executive directorship with one of my investee companies and play an active role in supporting this organisation.
Types of Investments that this Private equity investor and business angel investor is seeking to invest in:
I am looking to invest in EIS-qualifying investments in the UK (though will consider, exceptional international opportunities). I would want to be in a position to take a minimum stake of 5% in a business with a maximum of 29.9%. I would prefer to be actively involved and to be a non-executive or, at least, have board observer rights.
I am particularly interested in technology-based products or services with strong IP protection. I want to invest in growth companies at all stages of development from seed to expansion capital.
I have no interest in investments that are primarily asset-backed (e.g. property, natural resources) or whose returns depend on tax treatments/ incentives (e.g. structured EIS investments).
