What is the background of your Angel investment group?
Our investment group includes three managing partners based in Cheshire who have worked successfully together in a range of business projects over many years. Sharing the same values and business philosophy, we bring together a wealth of commercial experience.
Our investments are “hands on” with partners spending considerable time working within the businesses together with the existing management team and any existing stakeholders. This helps us ensure success and rapid growth of the venture.
Whilst we will consider start-up opportunities, we are particularly interested in existing business’s which are generating revenues (although not necessarily profitable) but need investment and support to grow and develop. Supporting anexisting management team in buying out their business through an MBO or MBI is also an area of interest. Our philosophy is to bring together all the components necessary for a successful business, through equity investment, joint ventures and in other ways, to ensure that the business is structured and developed in the most effective way.
Raising the right type of equity investment can be very difficult for an existing business because of the restrictions and controls required by the investor to protect their investment. Combermere Business Investors take a completely different approach by using our time and experience to protect and develop our investment.
We will invest the appropriate capital in a business for a significant equity holding in that business and would usually look for an equity share of 35% to 50%.
