Background information on this investors business career:
This investor is currently the COO for Qtel and has taken QTEL (Vodafone equivilent in Qatar) from 300k customers in 1 country to 77 million in 17 countries across the region.
This Investor has been responsible for raising $8 billion (USD) in bank finance and 3bn in USD in bonds. He chairs Virgin Mobile in Qatar, and Starlink (Small Retail Company that is trying to become the next carphone warehouse of the Middle East).
He is also a Board member for Nedjma (#2 operator in Algeria) and Witribe - Wimax based startup in Jordan, Phillipines + Pakistan. He is also on the Board of Navlink, a JV with AT+T. This Investor is ex McKinsey and has an extensive network from that time. In addition to this he has worked in property finance and retail a long while back so have some exposure to these areas.
As you are international based, how would you intend to fund and manage your investment into a UK based entrepreneur?
This Investor is a British Expat now based in Qatar and has been for the past 10 years or so. I make regular trips back to the UK and hence can hold face to face meetings when this Investor is back in the UK, and that too combined with skype conferences.
This Investor owns BB ltd - a real estate company that owns property in Scotland, specialising in HMO.
This Investor is currently taking stakes in a TV company with a franchising deal in toys, a games manufacturer, a juice bar and a home wares company.
How muchthis investor has to invest on Venture Giant:
In general this Investor states that he has anything up to £1m per year to invest. He has enough secure investments and is now looking to create a portfolio of angel investments that can benefit from his commercial experience, energy and are a bit of fun to be involved with, which have the potential to payback in a big way.
